Last summer, Trendy in Indy was bursting at the seams. I was trying to do all of the things and thought I was doing an okay job until something clicked… I was spreading myself too thin because I thought I could do it all.
News flash rockstars, if we try to do all the things, we won’t be great at anything. In July last year, Erinn Bridgman invited me to her home for a dinner party with other female entrepreneurs across Indianapolis. The night was truly inspiring, each of us sharing our stories and offering tips in a space that valued community.
By the end of the night, I realized that Erinn helps women in business reach their potential through her coaching services. It was right around this time where I was starting to realize how multi-tasking and doing too much at one time was not going to work for me much longer.
After a strategy call with Erinn, I decided to invest in coaching with her. I want to stop here because coaching is an investment and I can’t stress how important it is to take this step for your business. Whether you want to buy e-books or courses or hire a coach, investing in your business is critical to growth.
In my first session with Erinn, we chatted about the StrengthsFinder Assessment. I loved this personality assessment because it helped me identify the strengths in my personality, but also how these can be roadblocks for me. It was during our second or third session that I was explaining to Erinn all of the things I do: branding, social media, influencer marketing, podcasting, freelance writing, style sessions. She finally looked at me and said, “Steph you are doing way too many things and in order to move forward, you need to niche down.”
I didn’t leave our session that day feeling great. You see, as a creative it’s easy to have so many ideas you want to execute that you start one project before you can finish the first. I gave up my personal styling sessions first and wow, that moment felt so freeing.
Erinn has helped me shift my focus and get clear about what I want this platform to be. She’s helped me with financial strategies and creating space in my life. I think for me, it was important to identify a pain point and recognize that I needed help with my direction.
I don’t have it all figured out yet, but I’m so thankful to Erinn for helping to guide Trendy in Indy in a positive direction. If you want to learn more about Erinn or connect with her, I’d be happy to introduce you, just shoot me an email or DM on Instagram and I’m happy to help.
