Welcome to Trendy Self Care week! And boy, do I need this content even for myself guys. Self care can be hard, especially with all of the hats we wear and the priorities we put before ourselves.

A couple of months ago, I was listening to a podcast. I can’t remember which one it was, but probably the Goal Digger Podcast with Jenna Kutcher. The guest was talking about how you have to take care of yourself so that you can successfully take care of others. That really resonated with me, so I started trying it. I went to get a facial one week, I spent time reading for fun another week, then each day I was doing something for myself so that I could be a better wife, a better employee, a better business owner, and a better friend.

It sounds crazy, but I really did start to notice I was kind of a nicer person after I did something to “spoil” myself. I want to start this week off by reminding you that self care looks different for everyone. Today, I’m sharing a few things I do for my personal self care.

What is Self Care? The Things I Do to Take Care of Myself

  1. Getting a facial at LASSI. This is one of my favorite things to do because it’s relaxing and the results are amazing. My skin feels like butter when I leave and in general, I feel refreshed.

  2. Doing my makeup. This might sound silly, but I genuinely enjoy doing my makeup and also getting my makeup done. I like the way I feel when I pick my lip color each day and think it’s fun that each color says something different about how I’m feeling on that particular day.

  3. Styling outfits. Also may sounds silly, but I LOVE to style different outfits. This is a grey area of self care and work because generally styling outfits results in a photoshoot, but I also like to style just for the challenge of putting something new together.

  4. Reading a book for fun. I love to read romance novels with a little mystery or books that challenge my thinking. Currently, I’m loving “Girl, Wash Your Face.”

  5. Getting my hair done. My hair is the most high maintenance thing about my self care routine, but it’s part of who I am. Marie does my extensions, Gwen does my color, and I always love a good blowout at the DryBar or G Michael Salon.

  6. SHOPPING. There is something so rewarding about going to search for something new for yourself (and finding it).

  7. Going to dinner with my husband. Sometimes, it’s nice to just go to dinner with Collin and reconnect. I try to leave my phone on silent during our dinners so I’m not distracted.

  8. Shutting off my phone. Speaking of shutting off my phone, disconnecting is NECESSARY. You have to just turn it off sometimes and walk away.

  9. Working out. Going to a workout class is my jam. It’s my one guaranteed hour of ignoring my phone and focusing on being mentally and physically stronger.

So now that you know how I like to treat myself, what about you? What’s one thing you do to take care of you so that you can take care of everyone and everything else in your life?

Cheers to treating ourselves,

Steph
