The fashion presence in the Midwest is real and this organization works to make sure we are recognized in this space.

I attended my first Midwest Fashion Week show in October last year. It was amazing to see these young designers displaying their creations on a runway. I kept thinking "How cool that they've envisioned this, sketched, created it, and brought it to life on this runway."

This year, I had the opportunity to be a small part of the planning process. Berny Martin, founder of Midwest Fashion Week, contacted me after the show in October to share a little bit about his story. He also shared his passion for generating an understanding of cultures and places through style. I thought that mission aligned well with what I am working to do through Trendy in Indy.

We reconnected in March this year and Berny shared that he wanted Midwest Fashion Week to be larger than the last event and I basically said, "let's make it happen."  I suggested doing a launch party at Lesley Jane in Zionsville because they bring something so different to Indianapolis than any other boutique. Turns out, Berny and Lesley worked together years ago, small world right?

The event at Lesley Jane was a huge success. Several Indianapolis influencers stopped by along with members of the community who were eager to network, shop, drink wine, and learn more. The above photos were taken by Images by Amber.

On Friday, the event at the Arts Garden began around 8pm. We enjoyed dinner at Hedge Row beforehand which I highly recommend. During the show, we saw designs from Elan Furs, Catou, Katy Newton, First Impressions Clothing, and more. You can see the full list here

This season's show was even better than the last and the Midwest Fashion Week team has so much to be proud of. I appreciate the work they do to showcase Midwest fashion on an international level.

Cheers to "small town fashion" and the work it takes to produce a fashion show,

Steph
