Over the last few months you guys have asked for tips on "non-boring" workwear. I am pumped to share today's post with you in collaboration with the Fashion Mall at Keystone and Ann Taylor.
For today's post, I am sharing 5 basic pieces you need in your workwear wardrobe. These pieces are universal for every woman in a work environment unless maybe you work in the service industry and your career requires a uniform. These pieces are necessary for your workwear wardrobe.
The Classic Black Blazer
A classic black blazer is a piece you should have in your wardrobe no matter what industry you are in. This is a layering piece that you can wear over dresses or tops. A blazer is one of those investment pieces that you can keep in your closet for years and find so many uses for it. In the business world, blazers are a staple. I'm wearing a 00 Petite for size reference and the sleeve length was perfect for me!
The Chiffon Tank
At Ann Taylor, this top is referred to as a shell, essentially a lightweight piece that goes with a variety of bottoms from skirts to denim to dress pants. It has a slight lace detail that gives the top some character and allows you to up your workwear game. I'm wearing an XS Petite.
The Plaid Pant
Think about how much different this outfit would be with a solid black pant to match the blazer. It would be classic, but this plaid pant changes up the look. I call these "fun work pants" and everyone needs them in their workwear wardrobe. They are also comfortable for being a work pant. I love that they are an ankle length also. I'm wearing a size 0P (petite) for reference.
The Black Pump
You guys are going to laugh when I tell you that even I didn't have a classic black pump in my shoe collection. The number outfits I've had that I thought "if only I had a close toed black pump." Well now that's not an issue for me and guys these are the best. They are comfortable and I love the subtle tassel detail. I also want them in the leopard, but maybe next time.
The Printed Blouse
Adding print to your wardrobe, workwear or not, is always important. Leopard is a great print to add especially as we head into fall, but you can also wear this year round. I tried this top with a white pant too and it looked flawless. This is lightweight and could easily be layered with a moto jacket to transition it to cocktail hour also. I'm wearing an XS Petite.
BONUS: The Workwear Dress
Dresses are an easy go to for me especially while it's warm outside. Although, in the winter I love them paired with OTK boots. I tried on several last week at Ann Taylor that I loved and learned that I'd probably put a belt around my waist with most of these styles. They didn't have my exact sizes in store, but I am sharing what I tried on here with you. You can also see these on my IG Story Highlights under STYLE.

Just a quick note about the team at Ann Taylor at the Fashion Mall: They were amazing. Phyllis, the store manager, had items pulled for me when I arrived and was able to offer so many suggestions during my shopping process. I'd never shopped with this retailer before and I am excited for my next visit. They had the best pieces to amp up your workwear wardrobe.
