It always amazes me when I tell people I am from Indiana and they ask if I eat corn for dinner every night (no, but I do like it). But every once and a while, they say "oh that place with the track and a big race."
Well it's so much more than just a track or just a race. It's a rich Indiana tradition filled with history and excitement. It's a day filled with hundreds of thousands of spectators praying for no rain, a safe race, and their favorite driver to win. In case you don't know what I am talking about yet, this is the Indianapolis 500, the greatest spectacle in racing.
I've been going to the track since I was little and my first race was at age 10. I didn't get it at the time, but always thought it was fun to go as a family. Now, when Mary Hulman-George announces "Ladies and Gentleman, start your engines" I have actual tears.
Last year I shared a post about 5 reasons why you must attend the Indy 500 so if you want to read that, click here. This year, the hashtag #500fashionfridays was officially born so of course I am sharing black and white fashion.
This is the best tank to wear to the race and pretty much describes the event perfectly. What's funny is that I don't actually drink beer because I am allergic to it, but if you attend the race expect to smell like beer, gasoline, and cigarettes when you leave. Probably sunscreen and sweat, too. I realize that sounds gross, but honestly it's just the culture and you have to embrace it.
I paired this tank with comfy chambray shorts also from Feel Good Collections and I love them. You can get this whole look for 15% off with the code TRENDYINDY15.
In case you are looking for more black and white outfit inspo, check out the items I've picked below (most of which are on SALE).
Have a great weekend!
