How is it December 14th already? This time last year, I was just so focused on the wedding countdown and now we are already four months past that. Anyway, Christmas is only 11 days away and I wanted to share this post after a few stories and personal experiences I've encountered this week.

On Monday, we had the sweetest customer come in to RaeLynn's. She had just come from Kohl's and said "people are just so crazy today." When I asked her why, she continued to explain that she witnessed one cashier in tears, another so flustered she could barely breathe, and multiple customers who just acted frustrated and angry.

On that same day, I discovered that two packages had been stolen from outside our apartment complex on Friday (reason 101 that I can't wait to move into our first home in 2017). UPS left the packages outside of our locked complex because our apartment office was closed.

The holidays bring out the best and worst in people. I have friends and family who make it a point to thank everyone who has had an impact on their lives that year by purchasing gifts or baking or donating money to a good cause. I know (or have witnessed) other people who are so greedy that they yell at a cashier because they want a sale price that they claim to have seen advertised somewhere.

I've always loved the holidays which makes sense because I love traditions. From a Christian standpoint, I am thankful that we are able to celebrate the birth of Jesus with our loved ones. Now, I don't claim to be the best Christian ever, but we do attend the candlelight service on Christmas Eve which is just beautiful. I also love waking up on Christmas morning and knowing that I will see my whole family that day. Of course giving and receiving gifts is involved. One of my favorite moments of the day usually includes watching people open the gifts I've selected for them and seeing their faces just light up.

Mostly, I just wanted to remind each of you to be kind this holiday season. Whether the holidays are about Jesus (or any other religious figure), Santa, family, friends, traditions, or a combination of all of these; just remember that we are all in this life together. Even if the holidays are difficult for you for one reason or another, try to embrace the moments you've experienced this year and all that this world has to offer you.

β€œAs we struggle with shopping lists and invitations, compounded by December’s bad weather, it is good to be reminded that there are people in our lives who are worth this aggravation, and people to whom we are worth the same.”     - Donald E. Westlake

xo,

Steph

PS- This might be one of my all time favorite outfits and I just had to share it with all of you. May this holiday season bring you peace and happiness.
